USA CYCLING's Olympic Report: SEMI's & FINALS
Day three of BMX competition at the BMX Track in London’s Olympic Park began with three semifinal runs to determine the top eight athletes who would compete in a winner-take-all final race. Points equaling a rider’s finishing position were handed out after each run. The four riders with the lowest point totals in each of two heats moved on to the final.

BMX racing continued at the 2012 Olympic Games, with the men’s quarterfinals on Thursday. Once the day had wrapped up, two of three American competitors qualified to move on to Friday’s semifinal round. Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX) and David Herman (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Free Agent-Rockstar) will advance to Friday’s round of 16, while Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro Bikes) was eliminated in the quarterfinals by a single point.
