The Countdown to Louisville Begins

T minus 11 days and counting until the BMX world converges on Louisville, Kentucky for the USA BMX Bluegrass Nationals – Eastern Divisional Finals, Labor Day weekend August 30-September 2nd.  The legendary Derby City BMX is in pristine condition following a complete rebuild by USA BMX Master Track Builder, Billy Allen.  The Derby City BMX crew has been prepping the venue at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park for an epic event, which will include three national event days that will conclude with the crowning of an Eastern Divisional Champion in every age group and proficiency. 

The tradition of Derby City BMX and the fabulous E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park runs deep in the veins of BMX as former host to the NBL Grand Nationals for more than 20 years.  The venue is simply spectacular with ample parking, ideal camping and a world class track.  When asked about the rebuild, Billy Allen had this to say:  “We worked hard to ensure the track would be fun for all ages and proficiencies.  This is such a fun track to rebuild because of the exciting elevation changes and overall speed.  People are going to love the rhythm section, which has some very fun and unique features. “

If you’re on the fence about attending here are some things to get your BMX juices flowing and off to Louisville:

  • The complex and the track are absolutely world class.
  • Olympians in the House:  This will be the first major Pro event following the Olympics and all the top riders will be there chasing precious USA BMX title points.  Gold medalist Maris Strombergs, Silver Medalist Sam Willoughby and USA Olympian Connor Fields and Alise Post will all be there.  With an exciting Pro section this will be particularly exciting to see.
  • It’s a holiday weekend and there are three national scores up for grabs.  There will be an all day practice on Thursday, National event Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  During each national day, USA BMX will have registration for the following day.  Can’t make it until Friday, no problem, get signed up during Friday’s race and your all set for Saturday and Sunday.
  • Incredible Divisional Finals Jerseys will be awarded!
  • Did we mention its Louisville and Labor Day Weekend!
