I was never able to race as a kid back in 1983...I had a Mongoose and you could never get me off it other than to play my drums or football. I would chase some really bad ass guys around my hood...Like Darren B, Bob Medrano, but my mom could only keep me in drums and football as a kick ass single parent. By 1985 I was in full on pro bands playing live shows. I could not get hurt and BMX just went out of my life for 29 years as I toured the world with some of the biggest punk and metal bands going. I always loved BMX tho. In 2008 I saw BMX in The Olympics and it set a seed growing in the way back of my mind. Flash forward to 2013...I'm 319lbs...worst shape of my life....sick of the music biz and about to go in for a major surgery on my saliva glands that had become impacted with calcified stones. Well the surgery went sideways and I ended up in a 3 day coma. When I came to...al I could think about was racing BMX...nothing was more clear to me that I had been given a second chance at life and that I was going to race. So I got a 29" PK Ripper at Hank & Frank's from Mark Jackson...and started riding my ass off...then I started to look at all the changes in BMX. People started to tell me about 510 Bay Area BMXERS and how cool the team was and how much they did for the sport. How it was a team from the streets started by guys pulling out of the street life and reinventing themselves. I set a goal to one day become a member of this team if I could. I was soon well aware that I had the wrong bike and needed some guidance. I reached out to my homie Thomas T Ingram and started to bend his ear about the sport. He told me all about the new BMX race world. Told me to get a 20" and make it a part of my body...he got me going out to Napa at North Bay BMX...introduced me to Curtis A Redwine. Curtis starting driving me out to the track in NAPA at NORTH BAY BMX. I started to race...I started to place and then win...then I really made a mark at my first state qualifier racing Inters as a novice. I took 2nd and I was hooked. I went off with my training...getting ready for the Reno National with the help of many people...I really wanted to show 510 I meant biz and was willing to put in the work. I went on to go 1-2-1 over the weekend and won my very first national ever...the first dirt turns I had ever raced on. When I got home Howard asked me to join 510 as the first novice ever. With the help of Mike Fritz, Mark Jackson, Howard Cato and Brandon Cato, Brain Simmons, Curtis A Redwine, Thomas T. Ingram, Russ Yetter, Jimmy Dean, Tom Raven, Ray Gomez. I went on to win state championship playing the spoiler and taking the trophy home from the number one plate holder. Now I'm sitting with a Grand National win and seconded in the ROC after my trip to Tulsa Oklahoma. I planed my move to inter perfectly and now I'm an Intermediate Nor-Cal District 4 rider. I have lost 90lbs and BMX has saved my life. I could not thank my team or the BMX community enuff for being so kind and for welcoming me into the race world with open arms. I'm so looking forward to the 2015 season. See you at the track!!!!
