2024 Race for Life Campaign Achieves New Milestones for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The annual USA BMX Race for Life campaign has wrapped up its 2024 fundraising efforts with outstanding results, securing an impressive $272,895.97 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Launched in 1981, the Race for Life series remains an enduring tradition for BMX riders across the United States and Canada, combining the thrill of BMX racing with the noble cause of supporting those affected by leukemia and lymphoma. This year’s campaign once again highlights the extraordinary commitment of the BMX community to making a real difference in the lives of others.

The history of Race for Life began with a boy named Todd Kingsbury, a BMX enthusiast from Waterford Oaks BMX in Michigan, who was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite battling this disease, Todd never lost sight of his dream of becoming a top pro in BMX. Inspired by Todd’s fight, the American Bicycle Association and Todd’s friends decided to support him in what they called his “Race for Life.” Since then, the Race for Life has grown into an inspiring annual fundraiser, with thousands of riders across North America joining in to help others like Todd.

This year, the top fundraiser was Ryland Bricker, who alone contributed an impressive $38,416.36. Over six years, Ryland has raised more than $250,000 for LLS, cementing his role as a remarkable ambassador of the BMX spirit. Joining him in the top 10 fundraisers for 2024 were Chloe Holloway, Sean Coleman, Mason Berry, Everly Wilmore, Kaiden Saba, Charlie Schroeder, Axel Jimenez, Liam Winters, and Avery Adams. These dedicated riders earned special recognition and prizes from Box Components, showcasing their commitment and competitive spirit off the track. In total, 248 riders earned various prizes, including 93 riders who achieved the highest honor: having their entry fees covered for the prestigious USA BMX Grand Nationals. This reward reflects their exceptional efforts in both fundraising and dedication to the cause.

BMX tracks around the country played a pivotal role in this year’s campaign success. Leading the charge were top fundraising tracks, including Egg Harbor Township BMX, Lincoln Park BMX, Waterford Oaks BMX, Steel Wheels BMX, and Moses Lake BMX. Each track not only rallied local communities but also brought awareness to the cause, underscoring the incredible power of grassroots engagement. Other tracks like Columbia Basin BMX, Park City BMX, Rockford BMX, Spokane BMX, and Chesapeake BMX also showcased inspiring dedication, providing riders with both a platform and motivation to reach their fundraising goals.

With USA BMX now established as top fundraisers for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Race for Life campaign exemplifies the BMX community’s values of resilience, unity, and compassion. Each dollar raised brings hope to countless individuals affected by blood cancers and supports research that brings us closer to a cure.
