Fall Nationals location announced
Return to California for the Fall Nationals Bakersfield’s Metro BMX Track to Host 24th Stop of Series; Upgrades to track with New Design, Overall Facility Improvement expected to draw World-Class Competition
USA BMX is proud to announce the location for the 2017 Fall Nationals where the event will return to its BMX racing roots and take place in Bakersfield, California, Sept 15-17 on the newly-renovated Metro BMX track. Track operators Eric and April Simpson took over operations of Metro BMX late last year with the commitment to grow the local program while investing time into making major improvements to the facility. Bakersfield is centrally located in the state and has historically been a successful location for past BMX events. The Fall Nationals will draw more than 1,000 racers from all over the country with more than half coming from California.
“When the schedule was initially created, USA BMX knew we needed another na-tional race in California,” said John David, USA BMX chief operating officer. “We were optimistic about returning to Bakersfield with the facility’s dec, we knew that changes had to be made to the facility.” Bakersfield Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomes the event to their city. “We’re ex-tremely pleased to be welcoming USA BMX back for the Fall Nationals,” said CVB sales manager, Matt Billingsley. “With all that has gone into rebuilding the track and facilities, we’re confident that this is just the start of great things to come in Bakersfield.”
A huge thank you to Metro BMX Track Operators April and Eric who have worked so hard to build on the great legacy in Bakersfield created by Taren and Vince Mulhouse.
Additionally, we would like to thank the Bakersfield Convention and Visitors Bureau and Matt Billingsley for their tremendous support of the 2017 Fall Nationals.
Eric and April have poured their heart and soul into the track and have completely rebuilt METRO BMX - including the following:
· An all new track design by Lance MaGuire and his team at Dirt Trendz ... complete with Soiltac.
· New and improved lighting!
· New starting hill and starting gate!
· Improved spectator areas!
· and ...best of all, prior to the Fall nationals, Metro BMX plans to have all fo the turns paved!
