Music City National schedule clarification

The staff at USA BMX has been fielding many questions about the upcoming event this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee.  While we tried to answer as many questions as possible in our event flyer and on the website, there are some things that would not fit on a flyer.

1) How many USA BMX Nationals are being held this weekend? 

  • There are three (3) national scores up for grabs this weekend.  A USA BMX national event will occur on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

 2) What is the USA Cycling National Championships?

  • The USA Cycling National Championships takes place on Saturday only and is the qualification race for the UCI World Championships held in Auckland, New Zealand July 24 through 28.

 3) What do I get if I race the USA Cycling National Championships”

  • Quadruple district points
  • Chance to qualify for the worlds
  • Commemorative number plate
  • Top three finishers in each age and class will be included in the podium presentation.  2nd and 3rd receive medallions, 1st place receives a medallion and the USA National Championship Stars and Strips Jersey.

 4) Can I race in the USA Cycling National Championships and the USA BMX Music City National on Saturday?

  • Absolutely! The USA Cycling race and the USA BMX Music City National will happen on Saturday.  USA BMX has collaborated with USA Cycling and will run their race at the beginning of the program in place of the normal open classes.

5) Remember that the USA Cycling National Championships will follow UCI rules and all riders will be required to wear gloves.

6) If I am racing in the Elite classes, are there any jersey requirements?

  • Per the UCI rulebook:  Each rider who has received a UCI permanent number and those riders with a World number 1-8 must print their number on the jersey.
  • Only Elite riders who received a permanent career number through UCI, may print a permanent career number on the back of a jersey.  Riders without a permanent career number shall not print a number on the back of their jersey.

7) The USA BMX Music City Nationals will occur Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 
Pre-signs are open until 5 p.m. MT (on Weds, May 29th) and sign-ups are available on-site.  Please visit the usabmx.com national events page or click here for more information on this weekends event.

9) USA Cycling podium will be at the conclusion of all mains on Saturday.
     We will start immediately after 41 & over expert.
