Code of Conduct
Omaha BMX is a volunteer-driven organization focused on fulfilling our mission and striving to achieve our vision while honoring our core values. We expect positive behavior and respectful competition from the entire community of riders, parents, guardians, coaches, and spectators at and away from the Omaha BMX track. By attending events at Omaha BMX, you agree to stand for the Omaha BMX Code of Conduct and accept full responsibility for your actions.
Code of Conduct
• Sportsmanship: All individuals must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects good sportsmanship.
• Adherence to Rules: Riders, parents, guardians, and coaches must comply with the rules set forth by USA BMX and Omaha BMX.
• No Bullying: Bullying, intimidation, or menacing behavior of any kind will not be tolerated whether physical, verbal, mental, emotional or via social media/digital communications. Slander and defamation will not be tolerated.
• No Discrimination: Discrimination based on gender, race, class, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or any other social identity is strictly prohibited.
• Appropriate Language: The use of obscene, aggressive, or volatile language is not allowed.
• Respect for Officials: Riders, parents, guardians, and coaches must show respect to track officials and volunteers and comply with their requests and authority without confrontation.
• Respectful Disputes: Disputes should be expressed respectfully to the Track Operator, without showing contempt or disrespect for others.
• Encouragement Over Punishment: Riders should be encouraged to enjoy racing and grow from the experience. Riders should not be punished or abused for struggling, losing, or making mistakes.
• Accountability: Riders will be held responsible for the behavior of their parents, guardians, coaches, and companions at BMX events.
• Social Media Conduct: Social media interactions should focus on track and racing matters and must not offend, intimidate, humiliate, or harass and shall not be misleading, false, or injure the reputation of community members.
• Respect for Property: All facilities, equipment, and property must be respected. Destruction or vandalism will result in severe consequences.
Track Rules
• No distractions, including shouting or whistling, during gate cadence
• The following areas are volunteer access only:
• Gate drop tower and deck
• Finish line / Scoring tower
• After assisting younger riders through staging and/or in the gate, exit the area quickly to allow for the next group to load.
• Do not, for any reason, run out on the track.
• Any questions, comments, issues or protests during racing must be directed at the TO.
Disciplinary Action
Omaha BMX reserves the right to remove a rider from an event or future events if they or their associated persons violate the Code of Conduct and/or track rules. Severe or repeated violations may lead to suspension and possible permanent expulsion. Serious incidents will be reported to USA BMX.
Depending on the severity of the offense, violators may face the following disciplinary actions:
• Verbal warning
• Disqualification from a race
• Being asked to leave the Omaha BMX Facility
• Suspension from our facility
Any act deemed to be detrimental to the image, culture, or climate of the track, the safety of other riders, parents, track officials, volunteers and spectators, or failure to respect and/or comply with a track official’s directions or decision may result in immediate suspension at the decision of the Track Operator or Board President.
