Lone Star BMX was formed with the goal of bringing BMX to the community and to teach riders valuable skills, such as determination and sportsmanship, that can be carried beyond the BMX track. In 1979, the original Lone Star BMX track was built in San Antonio by Bernie Anderson, the current owner of USABMX.  With deep community roots and several decades of history, Lone Star BMX is completely player-owned and operated. Our track family is made up of a diverse group of all ages and backgrounds that has fostered an inclusive community where everyone is welcome and encouraged to see how BMX can positively impact their lives.

In July 2019, Tanner Sebesta was offered the opportunity to take over the Lone Star BMX track, located on Old Blanco Rd., as the previous track operator was stepping down from his role. Tanner, a familiar face, has been a part of the LSBMX community since the age of four and having watched the track trade hands several times throughout the years, felt led to accept the offer. 

After many years of races and memories, in January of 2020, the old track location closed and the track was relocated in San Antonio. With the support of USABMX, Lone Star BMX was able to relocate the track dirt, recycle and rebuild, and begin dreaming up a new and improved plan for LSBMX! T.O. Tanner and numerous volunteers have worked daily to plan and build a BMX track from the ground up. To date, there have been 2,300+ hours (and counting!) dedicated by volunteers since the relocation of the track. 

While Tanner is committed to growing the sport of BMX, Tanner also intends to provide Lone Star BMX with as minimal track maintenance as possible so families and riders can enjoy BMX racing the way it was intended to be and focus on what’s important: having fun. 

Lone Star BMX will open its track to the community on August 16th 2020, but that doesn’t mean the planning, dreaming, and improvements are done! Currently, LSBMX is hosting its first annual fundraising initiative #PedalForProgress which is helping to raise money for the longevity and livelihood of the track.
