BMX racing continued at the 2012 Olympic Games, with the men’s quarterfinals on Thursday. Once the day had wrapped up, two of three American competitors qualified to move on to Friday’s semifinal round. Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX) and David Herman (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Free Agent-Rockstar) will advance to Friday’s round of 16, while Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro Bikes) was eliminated in the quarterfinals by a single point.
It's quite an adventure here in London. Everywhere you go is packed with people from all around the World; which is easy to tell by their clothing. It does seem like an over abundance of orange clothing from all of the Dutchies, and of course - there is plenty of British spirit shown with Union Jack face paint and UK-flag clothing that would make Joe Elliott from Def Leppard proud.
Results for the Top-16 in Olympic Mens Time Trials - from earlier this afternoon. A good day for the Dutch, with all three Americans also looking VERY strong - placing 4th, 7th and 15th.
For most BMX racers, families and fans, the perception is that Nike designers were more concerned about what the clothing does, than how it looks. The last few weeks the Answer/Rennen team has been on a whirlwind of races which have resulted in thousands of miles traveled, a couple of airport layovers, tons of BMX racing, a new rider added to the roster and big points up for grabs.
