Sept started off with a wreck in Bullhead. I got new cleats but forgot to readjust my pedals I stayed clipped in over a jump and up a berm. I went back to flat pedals the rest of the month.
State finals in Chandler Friday night double points we had 8 riders two from 61 & over. One being Harry Leary who won as I came in second. Saturday State pre race double point we had 8 riders. 22 yr. Old Cid blew the start but flew by me down the back straight Kevin Smart held on for the win and I held on for a photo 3rd with Nick. (See video). Sunday was State Championship and five signed up. I got the win in my age group but didn't race enough state races to qualify for a state plate.
Gold cup finals in Lemoore California four of us have 44 points tied for 1st place going in 56 - 60 cruiser. Friday night pre race double didn't count for Gold cup but with five of us I got a flyer out of the gate but Scott Angus got the win I held on for second and Steve Yager that I battled all year got third. Saturday and Sunday I choked and was really so nervous I couldn't stay on my pedals. I qualified both days but ran 7th both days as well. The best video might be when Robbie Stanford and I got tangled up coming out of the gate and he went sailing into the infield. He shrugged it off and all the guys were cool. Steve Yager even got a Gold Cup plate in 51&over expert.
Good month 9 races 1,160 points.
