2019 mongoose Elite XL Pro $249 versus 2020 Elite XL Pro $529
Purchased my white Mongoose Elite XL Pro in March of 2019 from Amazon for under $250. First race out of the box was Spring Nationals in Albuquerque New Mexico. Now after another $250 in BMX insurance and entry fees not to mention gas and hotel and now into the sport about 8 $900 and haven't even gotten in the Starting Gate yet. So now the stage is set I'm in the gate on my 2019 elite pro XL borrowed helmet Levi's long sleeve shirt wow how exhilarating. Here I am on a $250 bicycle every bicycle in the gate on other side of me cost at least two to three thousand dollars. After 3 days of racing for a novice Rider I don't think I did too bad 2 seconds + a fourth Place finish so now I'm hooked. The year goes on and after 27 races and no telling how many thousands of dollars in entry fees gas and hotels, the end of the season is coming near I find myself qualified for the Southwest Gold Cup which was held in Chula Vista, and the state championship which was held at Black Mountain BMX. My $250 mongoose was stolen out of the back of my car. Lucky for me mytrac operator in Yuma Arizona loaned me a bicycle to go to the Gold Cup Championship where I placed second on Saturday first on Sunday and won the number one plate. While at the championship in Chula Vista I went to the Mongoose tent and was looking at the new 2020 Mongoose Elite XL Pro. Shortly after returning home I purchased the new 2020 Mongoose Lee XL Pro for about $550 off of amazon.com. I take it out of the box put it together and race the Arizona State Championship where I took second place when putting the bike back on the bike rack on the back of the car I noticed a big flaw in the paint job. I think to myself hey I'm going to go to the race of Champions and the Grands in Tulsa Oklahoma perhaps I could just take the bike to the tent they're at the races and point out the flaw which I did, and didn't really get the reply I was expecting more or less I was told I can get you some stickers to cover it up. Well so now I'm in the gate at the ROC 2nd Moto three Riders two are being pulled to the main. Lucky for me one guy one Rider didn't show up because when the gate dropped my brand new 2020 Mongoose Pro XL Elite broke in the gate, and had that third Rider showed up I would not have made the main for the ROC because of bicycle malfunction. Needless to say my whole Roc and Grand National experience was pretty awesome it's a weekend I will never forget as far as mongoose and all the ranting and raving I did all year long about how I was racing on an affordable bike, and how good of a job Mongoose did I'm putting in a fordable bike out there so any Average Joe to go to the racetrack and race. Let me tell you this it's now the beginning of the 2020 season. The silver dollar Nationals in Las Vegas are just around the corner I get on the phone to try to do something about this 2020 mongoose Pro Elite XL and the Free wheel issue because I have yet to be able to keep the Freewheel tighten down. I was wanting so badly this year to see if I could compete in class and Cruiser but you know it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Had I known the 2020 Mongoose was going to be a piece of junk I would have ordered the 2019 mongoose Pro Elite XL and pro elite XL 24, that's two bicycles for the price of this one piece of junk I have in my living room. I still want to thank USA BMX for an awesome year I love your sport and would very much like to continue participating in your sport but mongoose and their representatives or the ones I dealt with on the phone anyway just really rubbed me wrong when they went from an affordable $250 bicycle and double the price to over $550 and it's a piece of junk.
