SOUTH PARK BMX ANNUAL ELECTION MEETING
As the 2024 race season winds down it is time to look toward elections for the 2025 Board. The Election Meeting will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 6:30pm at the 100 Acres House, 100 Acres Drive, Bethel Park, PA 15102

ALL BOARD POSITIONS ARE UP FOR ELECTION EVERY YEAR
South Park BMX is entirely volunteer run and requires a dedicated group of individuals to run a successful race season. Please remember - before throwing your name or someone else’s name up for a position, this requires a solid commitment to the entire 2025 race season. Please do not run for a position (including the support/member at large positions) if you are not prepared to make that commitment. ALL of these positions require a substantial time commitment and the ability to be at the track often--multiple nights a week as well as coordinating and working multi-point events, Beginner’s Leagues, and other related activities (administrative and non-race tasks).

Elections Protocols and Process
1. All positions are up for election. Each position is a one-year term.
2. To be eligible to vote your rider must list South Park BMX as your home track via USA BMX.
3. Only 1 vote per active and registered rider. So if a rider is under the age of 18, one (1) parent or guardian would get that single vote, If you have 3 active and registered South Park riders under the age of 18 you will get three (3) votes as the proxy. ALL VOTING MUST BE IN PERSON. NO ABSENTEE BALLOTS
4. We will start with the Track Operator position and work our way through the other positions. Each position will be voted on and then we’ll move to the next position. This way people can run for different positions if they don’t get voted in for a preferred position. If there is only one candidate per position, no vote is required.
5. The Board is comprised of the following positions:
-Track Operator (T/O) oversees the program and track operations and is the primary point of contact.
-Assistant Track Operator (ATO) is pretty much the right hand person to the TO and with an emphasis on track maintenance.
-Treasurer is responsible for all the financial transactions and internal controls including registration, fundraising, expenses, reimbursements, yearly filings, etc.
-The Registration Clerk is responsible for managing all the race entries, membership, points, scoring, moto sheets and paperwork, etc.
-Assistant Registration Clerk is responsible for assisting and supporting the registration activities.
-Secretary is responsible for keeping minutes of the meetings of the board of directors also a supporting position for other tasks and day to day operations.
-(3) Three additional board members which are support positions with the same commitment expectations in place to help the primary positions.
Though these roles have all evolved over time since they were defined in By-Laws back in the 70’s and 80’s, the one thing that is common is that ALL of these positions require a substantial time commitment and the ability to be at the track often--multiple nights a week as well as coordinating and working behind the scenes away from the track.
Each board member brings different strengths, talents and abilities to the table and must help support and back the others up regardless of role and work together to divide and conquer through whatever is needed to get the job done.
Please see a Current Board Member(listed below) if you are interested in joining the team for the upcoming season and have any questions. You can also email the track at [email protected] or message us on Facebook.
