Transforming first straight jump and changes at RPBMX
This past week, track supporter Mike Flynn was able to get Richfield Park BMX a Bobcat that allowed us to proceed with making changes on the track surface in a much shorter time frame than simply using picks, shovels, and rakes. In a matter or four days, about 60% of the jump that was referred to as Mt. Richfield was brought down. What is left will be enough to shape a good sized step table to flow into the first turn. Racers had informed us in previous years how the straight funneled down to about a four bike width by the time they got to the jump into the first turn. The last jump on the first straight will be widened from the front face to the backside which will allow for a few more lines to choose during race time. Check out the pictures of the progress made. Good news came our way on Thursday when the Parks and Recreation Commission approved our proposal to build a Strider track. The track will be just to the north side of the last straight. Striders will now have a track to practice and race on. Come springtime, it's our hope that we will have a few extra hands to help complete the track for our next up and coming Novice racers.
Special Thanks and a thumbs up goes out to Mike for making it possible to get all the clay moved. The Bobcat definitely saved a lot of time, and minimized the amount of elbow grease and sweat. Without it, our volunteers would worn out a lot of gloves and pushed countless load of clay by wheel barrel through out the winter and into spring. Also, thanks to Eddie Isom, Keith Knapp, Jason Inoles, and Derrick for spending time reshaping the track for the 2015 race season.
