Did you know it takes between 14 - 18 volunteers to run a safe and successful BMX race while serving food, drinks, and handing out awards? We rely heavily on our dedicated families to volunteer their time at the track. Some of these roles will give you the best seat in the house to watch your son or daughter race and not miss any of the excitement! Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers - we couldn't operate without you!

Registration

You are the first point of contact for many riders as they arrive at the track. You will enter riders' names into the track management software, process race fees, and print moto sheets. You may also be trained to enter race results and post them to the BMX Canada website. This job requires some training, but it's a great way to get to know the riders and their families.1-2 people needed. This role is required for practice & races.

Announcer

You'll get to wear a headset microphone and channel your inner rock star as you play-by-play each moto from the middle of the track. You will also have the pleasure of keeping families up to date with any club announcements, race night processes, housekeeping, awards, and celebrations.1 person needed. This role is required for race nights only.

Finish Line

It's time to clean those glasses and keep your eye on the prize (a.k.a. the finish line)! It is your responsibility to watch carefully as the riders cross the finish line and mark their final positions on the moto sheets provided. This can be one of the most exciting positions on race night. 2 people needed. This role is required for race nights only.

Concession

Hungry riders and their siblings, parents, and grandparents will flock to the concession stand all night long for drinks, candy, cupcakes, and more! It's your job to take orders, give change, and have some fun. Your customers are great, and they think you're pretty awesome too 😉 If you have a child racing, we will always make sure you can step away from the concession to watch their moto - we'd never want you to miss out on the action.1-2 people needed. This role is required for practice & races.

BBQ

You are a grill master extraordinaire. If you grill a mean burger and can toast a bun, this is the job for you. You are typically the most popular person at the track, filling hungry tummies all night long. You won't have to process payments at all, your lovely friends at the concession have got that part covered for you.1 person needed. This role is required for race nights only.

Gate Starter (a.k.a. Gates)

You hold all the power in your hands and you even get a stool to sit on! It's your responsibility to press the button to drop the gate at the start of each race, after the last group of riders is finished. In the event of a crash, you will "hold the gate" until the track officials have given the "all clear".1 person needed. This role is required for race nights only.

Staging

You will practice your herding skills as you organize riders to get into position at the starting gate. You'll be provided with a Moto sheet and will make sure the riders are in their lanes prior to each race. Your job is critical to keep the night running smoothly.1 person needed. This role is required for race nights only.

Corners (warm-ups & races)

This is most definitely the best seat in the house; however, your role is critical in keeping riders safe on the track. We'll have one corner official on each of the 3 corners. In the event of a crash, you will hurry over to the downed rider, making sure they are okay and out of harm's way of the other racers. If they do not need medical attention, you can help them move off the track. If they do need medical attention, you will wave for first aid and keep the rider still and calm until they arrive.3 people needed. This role is required for race nights only.
